ORDINANCE/RESOLUTION CAPTION: 
APPROVAL TO APPLY FOR A 2016 JUVENILE ACCOUNTABILITY BLOCK GRANT FOR WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT EFFORTS FOR JUVENILE OFFENDERS

BACKGROUND SUMMARY: 
This resolution is to approval the City's application for the 2016 Juvenile Accountability Block Grant which requires a 10% match. This grant will be for workforce development of juvenile offenders as an alternative sentencing measure. 

IMPACT IF DENIED: 
Funds will not be available to provide a program for juvenile offenders for alternative sentencing. 

IMPACT IF APPROVED: 
An alternative sentencing measure for juvenile offenders of minor crimes will be provided. Participating businesses will provide employment for these offenders and receive funds for salary for these participants through the grant program. Juvenile offenders will be given the opportunity for job placement, mentoring, and job skills training.
