| | | | | | | | | REQUEST FOR COUNCIL AGENDA The City of Hartsville | Agenda Date: 8/10/2021 | To: City Council | From: City Manager |
Ordinance Number: 4420 Resolution Number: - REGULAR MEETING | | | |
| | | | | | | |
ORDINANCE/RESOLUTION CAPTION: | Approval to lease a portion of city property to Brandy Stellingworth for access to her commercial property. |
| | | |
| | | | | | | |
BACKGROUND SUMMARY: | Brandy Stellingworth purchased 114 S. 4th St. She is renovating the building. We discovered that a portion of the property near the parking lot is still deeded to the City. Brandy leases this portion of property from the City. With the upcoming lease renewal, I believe we should obtain an appraisal for the portion of land that the City owns and allow Brandy the option to purchase the land at Fair Market Value. |
| | | |
| | | | | | | |
IMPACT IF DENIED: | We will lose an income of $5.00 annually. If the lease is denied, Brandy cannot open The Station and we will not be able to obtain the hospitality tax generated from her sales. |
| | | |
| | | | | | | |
IMPACT IF APPROVED: | We will remain in good standing with a Main Street business merchant and potentially receive financial compensation of sale of land. |
| | | |
| | | | | | | |
FINANCIAL IMPACT: | We will continue to receive $5.00 annually from the lease. Once Brandy opens her business, we will receive the hospitality tax from The Station. |
