| ORDINANCE/RESOLUTION CAPTION: | RESOLUTION: APPROVAL TO APPLY FOR A 2017 MUNICIPAL ASSOCIATION OF SOUTH CAROLINA HOMETOWN ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT. |

| BACKGROUND SUMMARY: | The MASC Hometown Economic Development grant program awards fund to stimulate local community economic development. The City wishes to apply for funds for another round of the StartUp Hartsville competition which has successfully allowed local businesses to locate in downtown empty storefronts. |

| IMPACT IF DENIED: | The City will be unable to provide funding for another round of StartUp Hartsville competition. |

| IMPACT IF APPROVED: | The City will be able to fund another round of StartUp Hartsville competition allowing more storefronts to no longer be vacant as there are only a few that are currently unoccupied. |

| FINANCIAL IMPACT: | | Due to budget constraints, the City was unable to fund this venture this year. With grant funding, the City can continue to support local businesses and downtown development. |
