ORDINANCE/RESOLUTION CAPTION:

RESOLUTION: APPROVAL TO APPLY FOR A 2017 BULLETPROOF VEST PARTNERSHIP GRANT FOR THE PURCHASE OF BULLETPROOF VESTS FOR THE HARTSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT.

BACKGROUND SUMMARY:

The Hartsville Police Department wishes to apply for the Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant program in order to be reimbursed for half the amount of vests that will be purchased in the upcoming fiscal year. Currently, 8 vests are to expire by this time and will need to be replaced per departmental policy of a vest replacement cycle of 5 years of wear.

IMPACT IF DENIED:

The department will be unable to replace all vests necessary to stay within policy.

IMPACT IF APPROVED:

The department will be able to replace all vests needed according to policy.
