ORDINANCE/RESOLUTION CAPTION:

The Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office seeks a Mutual Aid Agreement with the Hartsville Police Department.

BACKGROUND SUMMARY:

In times of disaster or investigations of crimes, having a mutual aid agreement can assist agencies in providing services that the agencies may not be able to provide alone. The boundaries of the City are close to Chesterfield County, and disasters (natural or manmade) and crimes may occur that require our agencies to work together to protect our citizens.

IMPACT IF DENIED:

Not having a Mutual Aid Agreement may limit our abilities to work together to solve problems and help our citizens.

IMPACT IF APPROVED:

Mutual Aid Agreements allow agencies to work together and provide services and share equipment in times of disaster or serious emergencies that may be too large to handle by a single agency.

FINANCIAL IMPACT:

The agreement itself costs the City nothing.
