| ORDINANCE/RESOLUTION CAPTION: | | Approval to Apply for a SC Parks and Recreation Development (PARD) Grant for Basketball Court Lighting |

| BACKGROUND SUMMARY: | | When the basketball court was constructed outside at T.B. Thomas, construction costs exceeded available funding. Therefore, lighting was removed from the project. The citizens of Hartsville would like to have lighting at the court so that they can enjoy playing at dusk and after dark (especially in winter hours). |

| IMPACT IF DENIED: | | If denied, the city would not be able to provide the necessary lighting needed to continue play-ability and to ensure the safety of its citizens who utilize this basketball court. |

| IMPACT IF APPROVED: | | If approved, the city will submit the application to PARD who reviews these on a monthly basis. |

| FINANCIAL IMPACT: | | This grant is a 80% Grant / 20% Match. Therefore, the city would be responsible for approximately $3,100 of the lighting. |
