ORDINANCE/RESOLUTION CAPTION:

Amending the contract with Fire Recovery USA so they can recover fees from responsible party directly when necessary.

BACKGROUND SUMMARY:

Local governments are allowed to recover a portion of the actual operational costs of responses by charging a reasonable rate to at-fault parties; this will allow fees for structure fires to be recovered from responsible party directly when insurance pays the responsible party instead of Fire Recovery USA.

IMPACT IF DENIED:

May not receive the fees.

IMPACT IF APPROVED:

Would be able to attempt to recover structure fire fees directly from responsible party when necessary.
