BACKGROUND SUMMARY: | The Municipal Associations Retail Recruitment Training Program will enhance the city's economic development efforts through providing six days of in-depth training along with a market analysis and a spot at the RECon (retailers, commercial real estate firms and contractors) convention in December. |

IMPACT IF DENIED: | If denied, the city would still need to update its existing retail market analysis (2019) and fully fund selected staff members to attend the convention to market the City of Hartsville. |

IMPACT IF APPROVED: | If approved, the city will have the opportunity to become more attractive to prospective retail developers and we will be in a better position to promote ourselves because we will have an up to date market analysis. |

FINANCIAL IMPACT: | This program will cost the city $5000. This amount was written into the 2021-22 fiscal year budget. A market analysis alone is $5,000. This opportunity provides training, convention fees and a market analysis. |
