| ORDINANCE/RESOLUTION CAPTION: | A Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Hartsville Police Department and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. |

| BACKGROUND SUMMARY: | The Law Enforcement Training Council has instituted 9 policies recently with a set of standards included that the Criminal Justice Academy will be evaluating on site. State Accreditation will help move us towards successfully fulfilling that requirement, in addition to being more transparent and consistent. |

| IMPACT IF DENIED: | The Hartsville Police Department will complete the policy and standard requirements without receiving accreditation. |

| IMPACT IF APPROVED: | The Hartsville Police Department will endeavor to complete State Accreditation to be more consistent in its policies, training, and transparency, to better serve the community, and ensure our policies are in best practice with other accredited agencies. |

| FINANCIAL IMPACT: | Initial investment of $300 to the Accreditation Commission, and $850 to PowerDMS for the software required to complete the process. These fees will be ongoing yearly. |
