| BACKGROUND SUMMARY: | | The newly formed VICE unit of the Hartsville Police Department consists of two previous independent units: criminal and narcotics investigations. In collaboration the unit continues to identify root causes and links between the two crimes. Upgrades and new purchases to the equipment inventory of the unit will be critical in their continuation of efforts. |

| IMPACT IF DENIED: | | Due to budgetary constraints, the unit/department will be unable to purchase the equipment necessary to continue their efforts and to provide a higher quality of service to the safety of Hartsville's residents. |
