| BACKGROUND SUMMARY: | | In 2017, the City of Hartsville Police Department was awarded a 2018 Highway Safety Grant Program for impaired driving countermeasures. Through the award, the department was able to 100% fund the hiring of a DUI Officer who solely patrols for those purposes and a police vehicle and accompanying equipment for the officer. Through this application, the department will continue these enforcement efforts. |

| IMPACT IF DENIED: | | If denied, the department will be unable to continue funding the program and the DUI Officer position. |

| FINANCIAL IMPACT: | | This program allows the department to increase patrol on weekends through a dedicated impaired driving countermeasures officer while also having a full patrol shift. |
